Female, anti feminist, egalitarian.
I'm against sexism of all kinds but there are plenty of blogs whose sole focus is on women but very few even recognise that sexism does not equal Man against Woman.
This blog focuses on Misandry: The hatred, discimination or distrust of men and boys. Pointing out the representation of men in the media, deliberate misinformation/misrepresentation, the demonisation of men in our society and the imbalance this causes.
Rather than think of ourselves as in competition we should cater to everyone as needed.
If you think I'm being unfair to other women just know that I consider all sides of an argument, normally I prefer to be the fence. But for the purposes of this blog I have taken a side so apologies if this offends you.
I answer all asks privately unless otherwise requested or anonymous.
Catching Elephant is a theme by Andy Taylor
A study by Swim et al had male and female students keep a diary of sexist encounters. They found that women experienced more every day prejudices and instances of discrimination, about one to two instances per week,…
^THIS.
If you are told from the time you are little that the world is out to get you and that everything is a personal attack, you’re going to think that way, regardless of whether or not it’s actually true.
If you are told from the time that you are little that you have it really good, and if you ever complain about anything or take anything personally, it makes you a pathetic human unworthy of respect, that’s going to color your outlook on things.
All this “proves” is that women tend to take random shit that everybody experiences more personally.
Now that I’ve actually had a proper look at it, it’s really quite badly handled.
Method:
The female subjects were all 19-26 year old students in a “gender studies” course. Wow, they are going to be so objective aren’t they. You need a diverse age range with a psychological study which assesses this sort of situation. Younger women, especially nowadays, are far more aware of how they are perceived by others. They’ve missed such an opportunity here, they could have studied the range of awareness and different interpretations in different ages. That would have been interesting.
They had to grade their “encounter”, “endorsing traditional gender roles” was also a category on the thing. The gender roles of women have been endlessly parroted by just about everyone and few even know what the roles of men were/are, and if they did it wouldn’t be seen as sexist in the same way that it would with women. Female researchers “interpreted” the response of the participants”. Ahh, that’s a little dodgy but, moving on.
What do you know, the men were also enrolled in a gender based class. A lot of the men didn’t even finish it so that’s going to skew the percentages. The data of 53 women and 37 men was collected. The numbers have to be equal for things like this. They should have tried a few different groups from different places. NOT a bloody women’s studies thing. They at least addressed this but the results will still not be comparable because there is no male equivalent, society still believes in a distorted version of reality so the results would be biased either way.
The pre-study measures for each of the studies included: “attitudes towards women scale”, “modern sexist beliefs” by the same group no less, “self-reported personal activism against sexism” and the “gender feminism scale” eg “I believe this society is still completely patriarchal-it is still deliberately designed to preserve men’s privileged access to power and keep women subservient and oppressed”. Not only is that complete and utter bullshit but that’s coaching, you bloody imbeciles! Well done, you’ve completely invalidated your results.
Conclusion: The writing is biased, they most definitely are not impartial and the participants were compromised. With a study such as this, the only motivations should be: to gather data in a specific field, to increase knowledge of a subject or phenomena etc and NOT to further an agenda. Most studies at least have an outcome they’re looking for but there are procedures in place in order to prevent coaching, tampering and the like. Your personal feelings should not come into it. The purpose of any science is to learn, to change your thinking when the facts say you’re wrong, not to ensure you get the outcome you want.
I’m not about discrimination in any way shape or form, but this makes a whole lot of sense to me despite that. I’m not...
I’ve got at least ten people lined up who need to hear this.
no. no no no. the point of this study is to show that interpersonal sexism effects human beings on a psychological...
